The Process
In this project
you will be constructing a newspaper.
In order to do so effectively you will need both
information on the scientific aspect of the nuclear bomb, as well as the
historic aspect of it.
1)
Click on the following links that deal with the science behind the atomic
bomb:
a.
http://www.atomicarchive.com/Fission/Fission1.shtml
b.

c.

d.

e.

2)
For each of
these links, you must write a summary of the information on note cards. You should include all of the relevant
scientific information.
3)
You should use
the note cards to construct a newspaper article titled “The Science Behind the Nuclear Bomb.” This newspaper article should be at
least 600 words and should be written using the proper format that was
discussed in class for newspaper articles.
You should also look at the science section of any major newspaper (such
as the New York Times) for reference.
Type your newspaper article using Microsoft Word.
4)
Click on the
following links that deal with the history of the atomic bomb:
a.

i.
You should
also click on TWO of the links in the above site and summarize those as well

5)
For each of these links, you must write a summary of the information on
note cards. You should include all
of the relevant historical information.
6)
Use the note cards to construct a newspaper article titled “The
History Behind the Nuclear Bomb.” This newspaper article should be at least 600 words
and should be written using the proper format that was discussed in class for
newspaper articles. Type your
newspaper article using Microsoft Word.
7)
Find two, relevant, royalty-free pictures to make your newspaper look
great. You may also draw, sketch,
or use computer art to create one of the pictures. Be sure and reference your photographs
or pictures.
8)
Cut and paste your two articles into a newspaper format. Your newspaper should have at least two
pictures included with the two articles you’ve written. Your final project could be constructed
digitally on Microsoft Word using textboxes, art and drawing toolbars OR it can
be physically cut and pasted onto a larger newspaper sized piece of paper.
